We are off to a not so great start… We arrived at the airport early after getting on the wrong metro line originally and then, just as we’re getting through security, we find out our flight is delayed 35 mins due to technical difficulties experienced when they were attempting to leave Amsterdam. We got into our plane on time and arrive only 20 minutes later than expected. We got off and grabbed a taxi to the hostel, which is situated in the Red Light District. We checked in and did a bag drop (the room wasn’t ready yet) and then ventured out. We went to the Prostitute Museum (it’s all about how that works here and regulations and things of the sort), and then tried going to Anne Frank. Unfortunately (despite what the website originally said), tickets were sold out through July already. So we didn’t get to do that, but is a great excuse to come back one day. Same went with Van Gogh. We walked around a little before heading back to the hostel, only to find out the entire European reservation system (included more than 20 hostels) went down and we had to wait an extra 2 hours to check in. We got a free drink and 2 free meals out of it, which is alright with me considering it was hardly a delay. Once we were able to get our proper room, we headed in there to unpack what needed to be and I took a small nap before tonight. We had an evening canal tour through Amsterdam that was guided and it was pretty cool. Got to see Amsterdam as it slowly lit up along with some unique details regarding the city. Afterwards, we walked back to the hostel and I went to the bar (it’s a party hostel) to get some drinks and chat around with some others in and out of the hostel. It was an adventurous night and stayed out pretty late, but eventually turned in due to needing to get up in order for us to do the Heineken Experience in the morning.
