Amsterdam, Day 2

Today wasn’t too early of a morning. I got up around 0800 to get ready, grab some breakfast, and slowly make our way to the Heineken Experience. It was a very cool tour, similar to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, but had its own unique marks such as a panoramic movie of making the beer and several free beers throughout. I learned that they actually use bananas in their recipe, too! After the beer tour, we headed towards Hard Rock (there’s still 6 more to hit) and grabbed our regulars. We then made our way to a Pandora store to grab our Netherlands charm. On our way to the store we stumbled upon a Stroopwafels bakery and had to stop for some fresh made Stroopwafels with our own pick of toppings. Afterwards we back tracked to what we thought was an exhibit we stumbled upon earlier while walking to Heineken. It was actually nothing what we thought it was originally. It was an interactive 5D experience. It was kind of like a haunted house of old dungeons and people were actually involved in the whole skit. It was super cool and it was something I have not heard of in Amsterdam before and I’m glad we stopped to do it. Then we headed back to the hostel. Naps and laundry was done before heading out for dinner. We stopped at Friet Point for some amazing homemade fries (I got mine topped with cheese sauce). Then we went to a crepe and waffle place to get some “made to order” food. I got crepes with Nutella and strawberries and whipped cream. It was delicious and reminded me of the crepes I used to get at the Vernon Hills mall all the time. It was a good day today and got a lot done. Tomorrow is technically another country, though it is just a day trip. We will be in Bruges, Belgium and then Tuesday we will head to Paris. Hopefully tomorrow is amazing!

Sounds like an awesome gastro-day in Amsterdam! At what point, exactly, are bananas involved with making Heineken?

They are used to help preserve the taste and enhance the overall, unique flavor that Heineken holds
