Our one and only day in Denmark was spent in the lovely city of Copenhagen. Our flight got in slightly delayed, but we just took a taxi to the hostel, did a bag drop, then continued in the same taxi to the aquarium Den Blå Planet. The aquarium was big and really cool. They had a whole little area filled with free animals including frogs (poison dart frogs that were fed a non-poison based diet so that they aren’t poisonous), bats, and butterflies. After the aquarium, we figured out how the metro worked and made our way to the Pandora store to grab our souvenir charms. Then we headed towards the Little Mermaid statue. On our way around the gardens, we were able to walk through an old fortress with active military still at the gates. It was a small little town and was pretty neat that it was in such good condition and that military was still actively present in it. Then we finally got to the statue and took a few pics from afar (selfie pics were not taken due to the extraordinarily long line). We got some soft serve ice cream at a stand around the corner before continuing on the path towards Gefion Fountain. On our walk back to the metro, we walked through the Amalienborg Palace where we watched the switching of the guards on several doors before walking past Frederik’s church. Once on the metro, we went back to the hostel to officially check in and get settled. After laying around a little, we grabbed some dinner at Crisp, a local chicken establishment that we found where they do chicken nuggets and fries. Something simple and easy for us. After that, we bummed around a bit more before heading to bed for our flight to Amsterdam in the morning. A little mad our flight to Amsterdam was changed to a morning flight and we lost our 2nd day in Copenhagen, but is what it is. It’s exactly that that will allow us to do our day trip in Belgium from Amsterdam as we gained an extra day in Holland. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.
What is that thing in Denmark pics, a head in ice? All photos are great!
