Pretty decent start to the wonderful city of Florence. Took an early train from Rome (thankfully wasn’t delayed or cancelled due to the derailments and broken tracks on some of the other lines) and arrived in Florence about 35 minutes past when we were originally scheduled. Able to do a bag drop at the hostel and then walk around a bit. Got some gelato and saw some of the basilicas we were near before heading back for check in. After a small bed mix up, we settled in for a bit over an hour (yes, a small nap was included) before we headed to our meeting place for our pizza and gelato cooking class. Got to learn what makes a pizza dough Italian and got to learn how to make a variety of gelato flavors (if someone feels inclined to get me a Creami Ninja, I’d be happy to share my new found skills). The class was amazing and very informative. We even got a certification of completion! Our entire group of 17 people were all from the US which was unusual and refreshing to have. Tomorrow we hope to see David and the gardens.
