We went to bed pretty quickly last night so we could get up, get a small breakfast (ya girl’s gotta eat in the mornings), and then head to our first activity: Viðgelmir Lava Caving Tour. This was a tour we got to go down into a lava tube and learn about the history of its formation, how they are found throughout the island, and all the other little details that go into the geological formations, the living organisms, and the ice formations that can form in the cave in the colder months.

After this activity, we went to Hraunfossar Waterfall, which was a close by drive and on our way back to where we needed to be. We stopped at the waterfall and walked some of the small trails, then grabbed a small snack from the cafe on site before we headed to Hvammsvik Hot Springs this afternoon (in daylight, for a change). It was kind of nice (although a bit crowded) to experience a hot spring in the daylight, but this was definitely a decent one to go to. It was smaller and more intimate than Sky Lagoon or even Blue Lagoon, but I enjoyed the different temperatured waters (overheating and ensuring I don’t sit too long in the hot heat are something I have to keep in mind). After this hot spring, we got some dinner in Reykjavik (Hard Rock Cafe) before we headed into the campsite for the night.
