Finally. We got to sleep in. Didn’t sleep in too late since my body has gotten so used to getting up very early. When we eventually poured out of our beds, we got dressed, partially packed the suitcase we had to get yesterday, and then headed out for the day. We had no particular plans originally, but soon settled for the Lindt Chocolate Factory. It was a self guided tour with NFC audio that we were able to tap and listen to at a variety of stations. The tour took about 2 hours to go through everything. There was a spot with chocolate fountains where you grabbed a spoon and had as much milk, white, or dark chocolate as you wanted. Then just down the hall of the fountains was a mystery chocolate drop. You placed your hand under and it dropped a mystery piece of chocolate that you can try and guess the flavor of (they have the answers under a slide away on the table near the drops). When you walked into the next room, there was a station of Lindt chocolate candies placed strategically around the counter that you could try. While there wasn’t every flavor to try, they had the most common flavors to try and take a few pieces of each if you so wished. Then we continued onwards to the next part of the tour where we got to physically see how the chocolate squares are made (with and without filling) and then got to watch a ball go around this contraption in order to get more free chocolate (it was an individually wrapped square this time). Then we headed to the store where we got lots more chocolate (to share with those back in the states) before grabbed the bus back towards the hostel. After taking 30 minutes to get out of the heat and talk to one of the dorm mates we are sharing the room with, we went back out to get a hard case carry on to fit all the chocolate that was recently obtained and then to Zeughauskeller for dinner. This restaurant was in an old 15th century building and had a lot of war type items all over the place. The food was amazing and we got 1.5L of the house beer to share (I drank most of it). Then it was back to the hostel for the night since it is zoo day for the next.
Better than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
